The company wiegand.waterrides has been standing for individuality, creativity, experience and safety since 1963. The company started as a family-run business in the field of recreational technology and then developed into an internationally recognized manufacturer of water slides and water attractions. This experience of decades is the basis for our success. Our strength lies in the combination of technical know-how and a deep understanding of the requirements of water and amusement parks worldwide. With well thought-out concepts and innovative solutions, we create attractions which inspire the guests and ensure a long-term success for operators, even if the spaces are limited. Quality and safety are our top priorities. Our products comply with international standards and undergo strict controls by experienced engineers. The development and the majority of production takes place in Germany. This is a clear commitment to the "Made in Germany". Acquisition of the company Van Egdom

Van Egdom's bankruptcy is a hard blow in the leisure industry. Wiegand.waterrides subsequently takes over the designs and service orders of the slide manufacturer from the Netherlands.

Special effects Wie-Glow & Co.

Lighting technology and other special effects are specially developed for water slides. Wie-glow as a black light effect and other interactive game elements make their way into the slide experience.

Building the first lotus

The first Lotus is implemented in Belgium. It is a huge success, so that further Lotus projects follow immediately.

wiegand.maelzer becomes wiegand.waterrides

The managing directors Hendrik Weigand and Rainer Mälzer will go their separate ways from May 2019. All projects will subsequently be continued by the company wiegand.waterrides under the direction of Hendrik Wiegand and Thomas Schmitt.

Virtual Reality on Water Slides

New technologies such as virtual reality are increasingly in demand. With elaborate 3D scenes, the slider is offered a completely new experience.

2015

Construction of the first slide wheel

Together with a German company for rides, the first slide wheel is implemented in China. The more than 12-metre-high slide inspires the whole leisure industry.

2014

Hendrik Wiegand takes over the general management

Unexpectedly, family, friends and colleagues mourn the death of founder and company boss Josef Wiegand. His son Hendrik Wiegand succeeds him.

Production site in Brüssow, Germany

The two materials stainless steel and GRP are both very popular. With the development of another production site in Germany Brüssow, continuous production of GRP slides is now also possible.

2010

One of the Market Leader in Germany

With the increasing number of employees as well as the increasing order volume, Wiegand is establishing itself as the market leader for water slides in Germany.

The Cannonball is being developed as a driver of innovation. The working title at this time is: Water Splash.

2007

Production of GRP water slides

The company, which previously focused on stainless steel, also decided to offer GRP as an alternative material. The company Wiegand produces its frist water slides made of GRP.

2006

Foundation of the company wiegand.maelzer GmbH

In collaboration with Rainer Mälzer, his son Hendrik Wiegand founds a new partnership. The company wiegand.maelzer GmbH continuously takes over the distribution of water slides in the national and international market.

2004

Other production halls

The Vockenbach industrial estate was expanded with additional production halls. As a result, various types of steel (stainless and black steel) as well as further production steps could be continuously improved.

Expansion of the production

The steadily growing demand for summer toboggan runs, water slides and dry slides requires a larger production area. At that time, the founder Josef Wiegand decided to expand the commercial space in his home village. The second production plant was built in Vockenbach. This production site is only five minutes away from the Plant 1 (Landstraße 12).

1999

First speed water slide in Berlin

Higher, faster, further: True to this motto, the first speed water slide was built in Berlin. Known today as Free Fall, this model laid the foundation for extreme slide runs at an early stage.

1992

Further development of water slides

The initially rather shallow water slides quickly led to the need for curves and deep-drawn slide elements. Over the years, the offer of the slides has been expanded and extended.

1982

Development of the first water slide

A water slide was built on the basis of the stainless steel elements of the summer toboggan run. The development of a new product line for water and dry slides is born.

Sale of the first summer toboggan run

The two-year development proved its worth and the first summer toboggan run was sold to Switzerland.

1975

First summer toboggan run

After the winter turned out to be less snowy than expected, Josef Wiegand looked for a way to actively use the built ski lift in the summer. The idea arose to create a kind of tub from stainless steel elements.

The first ski lift on the Wasserkuppe

After a ski holiday, the founder Josef Wiegand decided to build a ski lift on the highest mountain in the region: the Wasserkuppe in his homeland.
